Fun Scottsdale events May 26-30 means a nice long Memorial Day weekend! An early morning or evening visit to the USS Arizona Memorial Gardens, honoring those who lost their lives for the freedom we enjoy is a good start. How about a patriotic hot ticket to Top Gun Maverick?
Memorial Day sales means cool stores and working up an appetite. And, disco dancing at the Railroad park! This blog pic is a sculpture at McCormick Stillman Railroad park of Bill Keane, Family Circus cartoonist and Valley resident.
Sizzling days bring lots of fun things to do in Scottsdale. With people traveling, we get to have the place to ourselves! Here’s what cooking this long weekend:
Scottsdale Restaurants
Arizona Restaurant Week May 20-29: Let’s go out and eat! Who wants to shop, cook, or do dishes when it’s hot? What better way to have fun than feasting and supporting our local restaurants. There are so many Scottsdale restaurant choices with great deals!
Scottsdale Indoor Activities
My favorite Scottsdale indoor activities when it’s hot outside include the Libraries – FREE, the Western Museum – low-cost, and mall walking and window-shopping – also FREE! If you’re looking for indoor adventures, get your rocks off with Reel Rock 16 rock climbing movies — see below — Yikes! And, our Entertainment District has many cool escapes!
Scottsdale Public and Party Pools
Do you know about Scottsdale’s public pools and fitness centers? Our very own Aquatic and Fitness Centers boast inflation-busting low-fee fun. Yep, there’s even a water park and lifeguards. And, you can work out in cool comfort at the fitness centers.
How about a Scottsdale pool party? Spend the day or weekend at one of Scottsdale’s world-class resorts — on the cheap. Here’s my resorts post, complete with a table of pools and amenities. Find the perfect quiet pool and spa oasis for adults, raucous pool party for grown-up fun — or, a lazy river and rowdy water slide to wear the kiddos out. Enjoy a Scottsdale stay or daycation and support our local hotels!
Scottsdale Movie Date
New Features and Classic Films
Harkins Camelview Theatre at Fashion Square
THU MAY 26 – SUN MAY 30:
Hot desert nights and Camelview movies are a long Scottsdale tradition. Here are my picks this week:
Tom Cruise is back in Top Gun Maverick! Where were you when Top Gun first came out in May, 1986? My sister and I were on our ASU graduation vacay in Hawaii. We saw Top Gun with lots of fly boys in a Waikiki theater and it was thrilling!
Downton Abbey: A New Era is also playing, for a more refined and relaxing movie. And, Sean Penn stars in Harvey Milk: Milk Day.
Here are other Scottsdale movies playing this weekend and everything you need to know about Harkins! Next on deck?
